Preview: Lifelong obsession leads to A Love Letter to Emily C
Louis B. Hobson of Canada.com recently published a preview of Sheri-D Wilson's play "Preview: Lifelong obsession leads to A Love Letter to Emily C".
Wilson explains her play is a dialogue between Emily and her monkey Woo.
“My theory is our animals know more about us than we do ourselves so, to tell Emily’s story, I created this quirky dialogue between Emily and the little creature she adored. My play is a fusion of theatre, poetry, visual art and music.
“I wanted it to be as much of a total artistic experience as possible so I asked Trevor Schmidt to design and direct it. He is such a creative, visually exciting artist,” says Wilson of Schmidt, who is the artistic director of Edmonton’s Northern Light Theatre.
Emily’s paintings will be represented by huge projections. At the end of the play, the stage will be engulfed in her art.
