God's Servant

– David Gillard

There once was a holy man I met,
The kind of man, on your life you could bet.
A peace that did not take long to see,
More stable than I could ever hope to be.
Just after I met him, I met his wife,
She looked so young, in years, her life.
Come to find, they are of the same age,
Sometimes, time does not turn a page.
On Sunday, he teaches us rights from wrongs,
The service starts with Christian songs.
An offering is collected to pay our due,
For all the Lord has given us, on time and a new.
The Sermon he teaches is from God’s word,
The most interesting views, I have ever heard.
He moves his people closer to the Lord,
Allowing us all to circumvent discord.
We finish the service with a little more singing,
Hearts filled with joy, we all know we are winning.
He welcomes us to stay and stick around,
Sharing with each other, the joy we have found.
He honors our Lord with his sermon to tell.
Shakes our hand and wishes us well,
It’s becoming, I find, he has God’s ear,
He fully trusts our Lord and stays to Him near.
In his life, to teach, worship and pray,
for God’s servant there is, no other way.
