Muse of the West

– Kelly Kaur

She guides me through labyrinths

Words that inspire and uplift
Compassionate
Exacting

I strive for inconceivable pinnacles
Fired by flames of creativity
Long-neglected in a smouldering heap

She is the one with the megawatt smile
Eyes that dance in rebellious glee

Once upon a time
They tried to stop her in her tracks
They tried to silence her stories
They tried to make her invisible

She, simply, showed them
Trail-blazing muse of the West

Gracious maverick

Calgary eternally
Emblazoned in her heart
