The woman in the kitchen
was no ordinary woman
The kitchen was no ordinary room

A place to gather
A room to nurture
all the disenfranchised
neighbourhood children

A simple taste from the ladle sooths
Chicken noodle soup rules
this place

A safe haven
as pots boiled over elsewhere

Without a word
she said everything
Knowing full well love
was the main ingredient

Her sacrifice lit up the house
into home
Making the night stars jealous

She broke the rules
every time
Suffered no fools
everyday

Even when she lay her dignity out
for all to condemn
Competing outside
in a field of men

A modern day warrior
A pioneer she was

Strong
Resilient
Bold
Mother

Scott Clark

I like to describe my art with four words: Imaginative, distinct, tribal and twisted.
Making art has been a stabilizing force in my life, keeping me grounded and disciplined.
It has been a cathartic medium in which to push the boundaries of my ideas, thoughts and ruminations.
