YYC POP: Poetic Portraits of Poetry, a Sheri-D Wilson Laureate Project

The Violinist

– Sholley Powell

Accented, her language resembles that of our own.
Her music- the power to bring classical history to life,
In present day tapestry….“her”-story.

Compassion that spoke universally,
Gifting words as a tool to write their story.
Filling holes building strength in community,
By example the power of unity.

A female face, with style and grace,
Representing all possibility.
Outside and within,
when challenged and driven
Soul surviving and binding
All women
