Darkness

– Tracy Arnholtz

Darkness hidden by humour and sarcasm,
sent deep, until it bubbles to the surface.

Pain and hurt unleashed,
only to be sent to the depths once again.

Darkness hidden by pursuit and effort,
the mountains are calling, they ask me to see the truth.

What is my truth? Lost long ago and deeply hidden,
the struggle is exhausting.

Darkness hidden by expectations,
so much to give, so much to teach, so much to learn.
Why can’t you see it? Why can’t I see it?

Sometimes the light shines through,
reflected in the eyes of my children and those who love me.

But the darkness keeps beckoning.
